Enter the Canyon — Rafting Begins

Pre-Trip Checklist & Practical Tips
- ✔ Pre-booking is strongly advised — do not leave this until the day. Enquire at Reception as soon as you arrive at the resort to secure your spot.
- ✔ Wear secure footwear — water shoes or old trainers that can get wet are ideal. Thongs (flip-flops) and bare feet are not permitted on the river.
- ✔ Bring sunscreen & a hat — the canyon offers shade, but the transfer and briefing area can be exposed. Apply sunscreen before departure.
- ✔ Leave valuables at the resort — the river is no place for cameras, phones, or jewellery unless they are secured in a waterproof case. Rivers Fiji provides waterproof bags.
- ✔ Eat a light breakfast beforehand — a full stomach and whitewater are not ideal companions. Lunch is provided during the trip at a rest point inside the canyon.
- ✔ No prior experience needed — professional Rivers Fiji guides handle all safety and navigation. You just need to be reasonably fit, able to swim, and ready for an adventure.

No prior experience is required. Rivers Fiji's professional guides handle all navigation and safety. You simply need to be reasonably fit, comfortable in water, and ready to follow your guide's instructions. The class II–III grade is exciting but well within reach for most adults.
Rivers Fiji is the established operator on the Upper Navua with an excellent safety record. All guests are provided with a certified life jacket (PFD), helmet, and paddle. A full safety briefing is given before entering the water. The guides are highly trained and experienced on this specific river.
There are minimum age and weight requirements set by Rivers Fiji. Generally, children need to be at least 7 years old and meet minimum weight thresholds. We recommend contacting Rivers Fiji directly or enquiring at Reception for the latest restrictions before booking a family group.
The resort operates a dedicated boat transfer to Pacific Harbour on the Fiji mainland, departing at 06:45 AM and returning at approximately 16:30 PM. The return boat transfer is charged separately at FJD$300 per boat (shared with other guests). Reception will coordinate everything for you.
Wear quick-dry clothing you don't mind getting wet, secure water shoes or old trainers, and apply sunscreen before departure. Bring a towel, small amount of cash, and a change of clothes for the return boat. Leave valuables at the resort — waterproof bags are provided for your essentials on the river.
As soon as possible after arriving at the resort. The activity is operated by a third-party provider (Rivers Fiji) and spaces are limited. Reception can check availability and place your booking. Do not leave it until the night before — early morning departures leave no room for last-minute arrangements.
